March 17, 2007

For Carson's 6th Birthday, we decided to just have a party in our yard. It was our first birthday of his having our own yard and we decided to take full advantage. There were activites for the kids to do, like playing with bubbles, jumping on the trampoline, and drawing on Carson's Happy Birthday Banner. However, the hit of the party was face painting by our neighbor Aynn Thurman. The kids LOVED it and all wanted to be wild animals.

It was quite warm on this day, much warmer than it has been on his birthdays and the kids retreated under the trampoline to eat their cake.

I wrote in your bug journal on 4/15/2007:
"It is a beautiful Spring Sunday. You turned six a few weeks ago. You are adorable and frustrating. Over the past couple of months, you have shown great self-control and respect. You love karate and are enjoying soccer. Your latest favorite cartoon is Ben 10. T-ball begins in a few weeks and you will also take swim lessons this summer. Busy! I am glad that each thing only lasts a few weeks and they don't overlap.

We had your Spring Parent/Teacher Conference recently and you are ready for First Grade! We were so pleased to see you had improved in "uses self-control".

I worry about you and what kind of adult you will be - I'm sure every mother does. I hope I can do the things for you that are in my control to help you learn self-control and responsibility. At this point, I do think you will always have a problem with anger. This is an issue that continues to crop up, even when we think it has gone away. I wish we knew what to do to help you."

Happy Birthday Carson!
